THE NON STOP THREE DAY PARTY OF THE YEAR!

There is nothing quite like Rocklahoma.  Between all of the great bands, crazy people and insane parties in the campground, there is nothing else that compares!  We started off our weekend interviewing some of our favorite bands like Nothing More, Hellyeah and Seether.  This was rock and roll summer camp at it’s finest.  Seeing old friends and making new ones all weekend.  Everyone was there for the same reason, to hear GREAT music from an amazing lineup and to party like there’s no tomorrow!  Friday had a killer lineup and we were able to catch blazing sets from Black Stone Cherry, Thousand Foot Krutch, The Pretty Reckless, Seether, Nothing More, Killswitch Engage, the Hard Rock stage headliner Hellyeah and the Main Stage headliner Five Finger Death Punch.  There is no better way to close out the first day of the festival.  The one two punch of Hellyeah and FFDP was perfect.  Five Finger Death Punch know how to entertain a crowd and put on one of the best shows in rock today.  They opened their set with their hot song “Under and Over It” and closed with everyone’s favorite, “The Bleeding”.  All in all, a great first day to start out what was to become an amazing weekend for Rocklahoma.

Saturday kicked things off with our good friends in Gemini Syndrome destroying the second stage!  The crowd went NUTS for their single “Stardust”.  Afterwards we had an interview with the great guys in We As Human who put on a killer show every time they take the stage.  The highlight of their set was when lead singer Justin Cordle made his way out to the crowd for their newest single “Take The Bullets Away” and the crowd was singing every word with fists in the air!  You know you are in for a good show everytime Pop Evil is on the bill.  Pretty cool that those guys just scored their THIRD #1 single with “Torn To Pieces”.  I would have to say “Trenches” was the best part of their set judging from the crazy crowd participation.  A little later in the day new band We Are Harlot, which features Danny Worsnop of Asking Alexandria on lead vocals, took the Hard Rock stage with their new single “Denial”.  This song is huge and shows off Danny’s vocal abilities very well!  Their set consisted of straight up rock n roll songs, no filler!  Next up on main stage was the 80′s iconic band Twisted Sister, fronted by legendary frontman Dee Snider.  The band sounded top notch!  Dee can still hit all of those crazy notes he used to hit back in the day with ease.  The crowd went wild when the band performed their monster hit “I wanna Rock”!  Closing out the main stage on Saturday was hit maker, Staind!  They kicked off their set with a few heavy tunes before getting into the popular hits and the crowd favorite “It’s Been Awhile”.  They were great last time at Rocklahoma and were even better closing out Saturday night this time around!

Sunday was the big day with headliner Kid Rock set to hit the stage late that night!  The venue was packed with fans awaiting his arrival but before he hit the stage there were TONS of other killer bands set to grace the stages at Rocklahoma.  Starting out the day was Australia’s own Twelve Foot Ninja.  If you haven’t heard of these guys then go check out “Coming For You”.  One of the biggest surprises of the weekend had to be the performance by Eve To Adam on the Hard Rock Stage.  We didn’t really know what to expect of their live show but they completely killed it!  They even played an amazing cover of Billy Idol’s “Rebel Yell” that turned heads and made people take notice.  We saw great sets by Heavens Basement, Extreme, Down & Black Label Society who slayed the main stage.  Zakk Wylde is such a class act and all around amazing talent and knows how to work a crowd into a frenzy.  A big surprise on the Hard Rock stage was the Butcher Babies who had the most crowd surfers of the weekend and probably one of the wildest crowds.  So ending this great weekend of rock n roll debauchery was southern hard rock rapper Kid Rock.  The festival grounds were the busiest we had seen them all weekend and Kid Rock thrilled the crowd with all the badass hits and even entertained the audience by playing every instrument on stage.  This guy can do it all and was the perfect headliner to top off the killer three day weekend.

So if you’ve never been to Rocklahoma start making plans for 2015!  It’s a non-stop 3 day party of rock music, beer and camping (we suggest camping for the complete experience) that you wished would never end.   by David Rader, photos by Michael Ervin
