Casey Donahew Band with Tyler and the Tribe

casey donahew band concert review cains ballroom

Tyler and the Tribe put on one of the best country shows I have seen!  These guys not only had great songs but they were all over the stage with tons of enthusiasm.  They ripped through an hour long set full of songs I could see being huge hits on country radio!  They not only played country songs but they busted out a sweet cover of Blink 182’s “All The Small Things” which had the crowd going nuts and singing along to every word!  These guys know how to put on a show and were the PERFECT choice to open this show!  Up next were the headliners for the night, Casey Donahew Band.  Anyone who has seen them live before knows that they put on one hell of a show and can keep a crowd entertained for hours!  The lights dimmed and Kid Rock’s “Bawitdaba” roared out of the speakers as the band took the stage.  They kicked off their set with “One Star Flag” which had the crowd singing and dancing along with the band!  Casey Donahew is a monster on stage, he not only has great vocals but he is just fun to watch and you can tell he loves what he does!  A couple songs later they played one of their hits “Crazy” which had the crowd in a roar as soon as they heard the opening notes.  The band had these really cool platforms they stepped up on that shined light under their feet and it looked so cool when Casey did this while it was dark at the beginning of this song.  Next they ran through their latest hit “Whiskey Baby” from the new album “Stand Off”.  Though the album has only been out since April you’d think it had been out years ago with how well the sold out crowd knew EVERY SINGLE song!  It was nice to see a sold out show at the Cains Ballroom.  It has been awhile since I have seen that but there is no surprise that Casey could fill the place up for his show and the whole crowd got their money’s worth.  The band just shot straight through hit after hit and everyone was having fun dancing and singing along to songs such as “Double Wide Dream” and the show closer “White Trash”.  What a perfect way to end such a fun night of great performances.  Both bands played their hearts out and left everything on that stage which is the way it is supposed to be.  Do yourselves a favor and go see these bands live, you won’t be disappointed!
