CARNIVAL OF MADNESS

It has been a REALLY long time since I have been to a great festival.  Carnival of Madness just had EVERYTHING right!  The bands, the venue, the whole experience is one I won’t forget for a long time to come.  We started off our day shooting We As Human and these guys put on such an amazing show.  Their musicianship and stage presence were just something that you don’t see too often nowadays.  They had a set full of heavy, killer songs.  My personal favorite was “Strike Back”.  That song needs to be ALL OVER radio!  I can’t wait to see them in a headlining setting one day!  Next up was the very theatrical In This Moment.  Maria Brink is an amazing front woman.  She knows how it’s done and knows how to put on an amazing show.  They kicked off their set with Maria coming out with 2 dancers and made their set just sexy as hell.  I would recommend seeing them anytime they come near your town!!  Next up was one of my personal favorite bands, the great Papa Roach!  This band is unmatched live!  Jacoby just destroys every stage he sets foot on and this day was no different!  They came out swinging with their killer song “Burn” and ran through a set of huge hits from their very extensive catalog!  My favorite song of their set had to be “Between Angels and Insects”!  Next we got the huge pleasure of interviewing We As Human.  They were so down to earth and fun guys to talk to.  Be on the look out for their tour with Filter and Red!!  After out interview we rushed back to the stage for SKILLET!!!  John Cooper and company NEVER disappoint.  These guys (and girls) know EXACTLY how to entertain a crowd which must have been around 8000 or so and I know everyone had to have left as a fan of Skillet after this show!  They played a few songs off of their new VERY well revived album “Rise” as well as all of their hits and ended their set with the crowd favorite “Rebirthing”.  Next up was the headliner, Shinedown!  Shinedown has never disappointed me in a live setting.  Brent Smith has become an even better vocalist over the years.  It was amazing that on every song he sounded even better than the record!  The highlight had to have been when they played “I’ll Follow You” which is such an amazing song with a great message!  They closed their set with their anti bullying hit “Bully”.  This whole festival was a great experience and I wish I could see this show 100 nights in a row!!  (David Rader)
