It was November of 1984 and Bryan Adams was about to release his fourth studio album. He had already become a household name with his previous album “Cuts Like A Knife” and was seen on television performing the title track on Dick Clark’s American Bandstand. Little did Bryan know that his new album would become such a huge worldwide success, reaching number one on the Billboard Albums chart, spawning 6 top 20 singles and was eventually certified 5 times platinum.
Bryan has hit the road to celebrate the phenomenal success of Reckless with a 30th anniversary tour. He recently made a stop at the Hard Rock Casino in Tulsa for a SOLD OUT show. Bryan played the Reckless album in its entirety for the first part of the show kicking off the set with the title track which actually never made it onto the original album release but is now available as a bonus track on the Reckless 30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition along with several other bonus tracks that Bryan played throughout the set. Of course the highlights of the Reckless set were “Heaven” which the audience new all the words too and Bryan let them sing a good portion of the song and “Summer Of ’69″ which had everyone up on their feet dancing and singing along. “Summer Of ’69″ is one of those feel good songs that everyone can relate too. The song went through a number of changes and was recorded 3 or 4 times in different ways until Bryan and co-writer Jim Vallance were satisfied with it and the song went on to become an international hit reaching number 5 on the U.S. Billboard chart.
After the Reckless portion of the set Bryan and his band continued playing an impressive list of hits from his other albums which included “Everything I Do I Do It For You”, “18 Til I Die” and the big crowd pleaser “The Only Thing That Looks Good On Me Is You”. Bryan played for over 2 hours and his voice sounds just as good today as it did 30 years ago. This was a phenomenal performance and a much enjoyed trip down memory lane for an album that touched the lives of so many people and made Bryan Adams into a worldwide superstar. Don’t miss the Reckless 30th Anniversary Tour!!!
