Asking Alexandria are one of the greatest bands in the world right now. They write great albums, give hilarious interviews and put on AMAZING shows. These guys aren’t going ANYWHERE and will only continue to get bigger and bigger. They headlined the first annual Metal Fest in Tulsa last Sunday. Though there were some hiccups in the lineup we had an amazing show on our hands filled with tons of bands and great fans. Every band brought their A game and the crowd was in a frenzy from the time the first band hit the stage until AA tore the place down. All That Remains ended their set and the crowd was very excited and anxious waiting for the band they came to see, Asking Alexandria. The band kicked off their set with “Don’t Pray For Me”, the opening track of their latest album “From Death To Destiny”. This was such a killer opening track not only on the album but at the show as well. This song translates amazingly live. The crowd lost it as soon as front man Danny Worsnop hit the stage decked out in black carrying a beer and cigarette before belting out a huge scream to start the song off. The pit was going crazy as the band pummeled the crowd mercilessly song after song. The best part of the night had to have been when they played their latest hit “Killing You”, which they just released a killer music video for! They also played hits “Someone, Somewhere”, “Death Of Me”, “Run Free” and “Closure”. The band was in top form running around the stage like crazed madmen, even Danny decided to jump in with the crowd a couple of times! The band ended their set with their first hit song “The Final Episode (Let’s Change the Channel)”. I can still hear the crowd ringing in my hears singing along to the opening “Oh My God!, Oh My God”!!!
There just simply are not any other bands out there quite like Asking Alexandria and in a world full of copycats it’s great to have a band that stays true to themselves. I know I can’t wait to see them again sometime soon hopefully. Be sure to check out our interview with drummer James Cassells below!! (David Rader)
